How do we as educators face the mandated requirements of the December 2004 reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) which calls for assistive technology (AT) to be considered in each Individualized Education Plan (IEP)? This course will cover assistive technology and federal laws affecting the education of children with disabilities. It also relies universal design for learning, a new paradigm for teaching, learning, and assessment as they relate to learning differences. UDL draws on the latest brain research and multimedia technology and how that translates into professional development, policy and practice, products, and publications to promote accessible curricula.
